Linking AWM to a Forwared/Redirected site

Postby mosspa » Sun Sep 20, 2009 12:45 pm

Actually, I have 2 questions that are related.

(1) When specifying link URLs in AWM, do you use the site URL, or the redirected site URL. For example, I have a client who owns the domain name http://her-site-name.com. That URL is redirected to a subdomain of one of my domains e.g., http://her-site-name.my-domain-name.com. What URL do I use for linking the AWM menus? Does it make any difference?

(2) I bought 3 AWM Modal Windows licenses. In the example from question (1), which URL do I register for the Modal Windows license? This is kind of important because I am going to suggest to my client that she find a "real" host for her site once she gets comfortable with her business' web-presence. If I have to license my subdomain URL, then the Modal Windows license won't transfer to her site with a different host, or will it?

Once I actually start using Modal Windows, I'm sure there will be plenty more questions :)

Thanks in advance,
John

I'd like to say use the registered domain name in the menu URLs. Be ready for the day it's no longer forwarding.

Just as you should use the registered domain for the Modal Windows license you'll allocate.

However, for now I'd use the sub-domain for the AWM URLs so forwarding doesn't have to take place with every menu click.

I'd get them into a real hosting account before doing the modal windows.

You may want to check out www.awavedomains.com for hosting. We're a reseller for GoDaddy/Wild West Domains. Good and inexpensive.
