PHP Viper Guestbook help

Postby ITbrian39 » Mon Mar 27, 2006 9:09 pm

Hello,

Viper Guestbook (http://mitglied.lycos.de/vipergb/index12.php) states to do the steps I have outlined below. I'm using NOF 9.0 and cannot get this to work. I have also tried to do it as you describe, by making a text box and ctrl-t and inserting the PHP script, which, in this PHP script instace, crashes the browser. Can you please explain how to impliment this in NOF 9.0 OR change over the button navigation to guestbook.php or guestbook.html as of right now, as you can see on the example site, it goes to the blank page generated by NOF.

Please look at the example here: http://www.nateratescigars.com/guestbook/

I can path to it directly, but cannot get the navigation to work. Please advise.

Thank you,
Brian

Installtion instructions:::

1.)At first we need a HTML page with your website design. Open the main page of your website and save it as 'guestbook.html' on your computer

2.) The guestbook needs some space, so open the file with your favourite HTML-Editor and remove all content that you don't want to see on the guestbook page

3.) Okay, time for the guestbook: insert the following code into guestbook.html at the position where you want the guestbook to appear:

<table>
<tr>
<td><?include("index.php")?></td>
</tr>
</table>

4.) Save the page as 'guestbook.php' and upload into your guestbook directory

5.)Download the file index.php from the guestbook directory, open it with a text editor and change the line

define ( "MAINSCRIPT", "" );at the beginning of the file to
define ( "MAINSCRIPT", "guestbook.php" );

6.) Save and upload the modified index.php

::end::

code error

Those instructions are wrong.....

Instead of:

<table>
<tr>
<td><?include("index.php")?></td>
</tr>
</table>

it should read like this:

<table>
<tr>
<td><? include("index.php"); ></td>
</tr>
</table>

[/i]

There may be other problems...but that jumped out at me.

Hello Chuck,

I couldn't get the script to work, I'm just too inexperienced with PHP to know what's going wrong. I need someting easier to impliment. Do you know of a guestbook that is easy to impliment within NOF 9.0?

Please advise.

Thanks,
Brian
