installation problem Fusion Essentials

Postby Xalt » Tue Mar 17, 2009 8:58 am

Hi,

I have downloaded the setup file for the NetObjects Fusion Essentials. When I try to install it, it asks for registration online. After I fill in all the information, it gives the error "An error occured when trying to connect to the registration URL". My internet connection is working perfectly, so that's not the problem. Apparently, there are more people experiencing this problem, but no one has got the answer so far; see for example this forum:

I hope you can help me! Thank you very much in advance,

I asked NetObjects and they said there was a server problem. Fixed now.

Thank you! It worked smoothly now :D I am gonna post this to the forum I pointed to. One more thing: as I was trying to register to the beyondFusion forum, I first tried to use another email adress, lbosgraaf(at)gmail.com. However, this was not accepted. I was wondering whether that is a bug or a feature??

Thanks again,

Historically, we have not permitted registration using free web-based e-mail accounts.

This was due to spambot activity using those types of accounts.

Spammers attempting to flood the forums with registrations and their garbage also led to the forums no longer being directly linked from the main site. That's why we use an image with the URL for a visitor to type in for their first visit.

Not being able to use a free e-mail account and having to type in the URL to get to the forums may be minor inconveniences to potential members, but they've made administering the forums and keeping them on topic much easier.

Oh, I see.... Maybe it would be nice to have so kind of notice about that in case someone is trying to make an account?

I am presently experiencing the same problem installing Essentials.

I have been trying since yesterday morning, and continue to get the "SEVERE" message:
"An error occured when trying to connect to the registration URL."

In case this was a corrupted download, I re-downloaded the software. I changed my default browser from Firefox to Internet Explorer (just in case), and as much as I HATE to do so, I even turned my firewall off to see if somehow it just wasn't authorizing the setup program to access the internet.

I can't think of anything else that I can do, so I thought I'd see if you have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Could be the registration server is down at the moment.

NetObjects is relocating some of their servers.

I'll see if I can get an update from them.

I appreciate you looking into this.

So far I've tried several times Monday, several times Tuesday, and thus far once this morning as well.

If it's a server issue, there's nothing we can do but wait for it.

Thanks
