Modal Windows GUI from Likno.

Postby admin » Sun Jan 17, 2010 1:27 pm

In Internet use, a modal window is a window that overlays on top of the web age you are on, typically with a translucent background surrounding it that covers the rest of the web page.

This focuses the visitors attention on the window. The modal window can contain just about anything, from an html page, an image, just text. The possibilities are very broad.

You can make the user take an action before returning to the web site or just close the window using a number of methods. A close link, htting Esc, clicking outside the window, etc.

To see an example or two, go to the Store page on Beyond Fusion.

http://www.beyondfusion.com/html/storef.php

Click on the Web Modal Windows Builder icon. A modal window will open listing the features of the program.

There's a similar window for AllWebMenus when you click on that icon.

Hi Chuck,

Do you know how these get added to a page in NOF? Is there a component necessary like there is for Allwebmenu's?

I'm working on a component for it, but it'll never be 100%. The component can place the code in the head section and publish the js files, but you'll still have to add the code to whatever element you want to use to open the window.

There's more to it than positioning a menu a la AllWebMenus. You have to insert code into a link to open the window. An image, text link, etc.

A component could handle a window that appears on page load pretty easily, but there are many options for opening the window.

Adding that little bit of code manually isn't a big deal compared to having to insert the code in the head and ftp'ing the js files manually.

Modal Windows Builder only does modal windows.

It does have slide show capabilities for modal windows built-in. It's a very good GUI for using jQuery.

And knowing Likno, it's capabilities will continue to be enhanced.

Go to our home page or store page and download the trial.

We have been in the process of switching our navigation over to AllWebMenu (Likno). We are testing model. We are very convinced it's going to work great for us. We have found that adding elements, models, is not a great hassle. But we did discover a bonus. since we have to upgrade these my Windows once or twice a month. It could be a hassle. But all we have to do is a search in Dreamweaver, using a MacroExpress, and the update is fast and painless.

www.home2000.com/h2
Select "Model" on the top horizontal navigation bar.
On the vertical navigation bar Select "Model Homes."
Listed by Size (Sq/Ft)
1500-1999
*17,88-Ranch (Select) and this will execute the model image.

I hope this has been helpful.
